Union Tribune Obituary
ROBINSON, MARGARET B.
July 27, 1913 to November 9, 2006
Margaret Marie Bredemeier Robinson left this life on November 9, 2006 to be with her beloved husband John who passed away February 7, 1985. Margaret was
born in Mayberry, Nebraska, the fifth child of Frederick and Louise Bredemeier. She met John in Denver, CO in 1939 and they were married in Los Angeles, CA on October 19,1940. The trip from LA to their new home in San Diego took four days. They lived in North Park raising their four sons until 1951, when they moved to their newly built home in Spring Valley, where Margaret has continued to live, till being reunited with John.
She went to work in the late 50's and retired from General Dynamics in 1978, when she became a caregiver for her husband John with Alzhelmer's until his passing on February 7, 1985. After John passed on, a complete set of "Handbells" were donated to Trinity Presbyterian Church.
She spent years volunteering for a variety of worthy causes: One was "The Grossmont Community Concert Association", where she was Membership Chairman for over 10 years. She belonged to the "Theater Organ Society of San Diego", and "American Bell Association International", the local chapter being the "Mission Bells Collectors".
Margaret and John were charter members of Trinity Presbyterian Church (founders) in Spring Valley, California, where she was involved as a Bell Ringer and helped in the LOGOS program for the youngsters. Margaret always helped in the Rummage Sales (both as a donator and purchaser) and with other senior church organizations along with the women and couples groups. Trinity Church and her neighbors were a huge part of her life. She was very proud of her "4 Boys". Margaret's biggest joy in life were "her 4 boys".
After her husband John died, she and "Shelly" Shelton became very special friends until his' passing on August 4,1999.
Margaret was one of those loving (special) people who had time for everyone and would go out of her way to help a total stranger. There was nothing that she would not do for other people and she made a difference in more lives than she could ever have imagined. Her love for her God and mankind was evident in the way she lived her life and the warmth that she bestowed on all those she came in contact with.
You could not have asked for a greater mother and father for four boys growing up in rural Spring Valley in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Margaret and John taught their sons what it was to be a family and that the bonds of love run deeper than any words could convey. Margaret and John lived their lives based upon their convictions of God and family love. The world was a better place when they were both in it. We will miss her smile.
Once you love someone they are in your heart forever.
Survivors include her younger sister Lottie Richardson of Lewiston, Nebraska and little brother Kenny Bredemeier of Wauconda, Illinois. Her four sons, Jim Robinson of Spring Valley (formerly Lakeside, CA), John Robinson of Delta, CO, J. Robinson of Plymouth, MN. and Jerry Robinson of Oklahoma City, OK. She has 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren with at least one more great-grandchild on the way.
Visitation - none, cremation. Instead of flowers the family requests any donations be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church to be dispersed to her favorite charity.
Services: Tuesday, 1 p.m., November 14, 2006 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 3902 Kenwood Drive, Spring Valley, CA.
Interment: Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, Steinauer, Nebraska, next to her beloved husband John, the weekend of December 16-17th, 2006.
