Women's Committee

The "Women's Committee of the Grossmont Community Concert Association" is not really a committee of GCCA. It is a completely separate organization, with its own 501c3 "Public Benefit Nonprofit" designation, it's own treasury, and it's own list of officers, etc. Over the years, this organization has had a significant impact on the cultural status of East County San Diego, and continues to do so.

In the near future, I will add a bit of history about this organization that will boggle your mind, since it has been so very effective in the East County. Here are some of the high-points:

  • Helped to envision and push for the East County Performing Arts Center (ECPAC) where we hold our concerts. Before that time, the Gym at Grossmont High School was used. Initially, it was intended that the concert hall be at Grossmont College.
  • Purchased the Steinway concert grand piano that was then presented to ECPAC as a gift. Our organization does not need to pay any rental fees (except tuning fees) when we use this piano.
  • Continue to run a scholarship program, which reviews local talent in both voice and instrumental categories, resulting in a recital at the end of the season.

Currently, the proposal is to have the two organizations formally connect at the GCCA's scholarship committee. This is still under review.
